Hamilton Broadway Musical Play

Introduction:

The Hamilton is a musical Broadway play based on the story of Alexander Hamilton who was an American Statesman, written by Lin Manuel Mirinda. The musical got played at the Public Theater in the year 2015 which became a big hit and later won many awards. The musical play has so far received 16 Tony nominations, 11 winning awards and it was also the recipient best musical theater for the Grammy Awards.

While Lis Manuel was on vacation, he had bought a copy of the book of Alexander Hamilton which was written by Ron Cherman. After reading the book, Lis became very interested in the book and wanted to do a musical with the story. When he researched if there were any musicals done previously, Lis found out that there was a musical about Alexander Hamilton did on Broadway in the year 1917; this is decided to name his musical as the Hamilton mix tape.

There are two acts in the play, The musicals in act one include “the story of tonight”, “The Schuyler Sisters,” “You’ll be back,” “Right-hand man,” “Helpless,” “Satisfied,” “Ten Duel Commandments,” etc. A mixtape created by Sia featuring Miguel and Queen Latifah is the musical Satisfied.The musicals in act two are “Cabinet battle#1”, “Take a break,” “Say no to this,” ” the room where it happens,” “Cabinet battle#2”, “One Last time,” “I know Him” etc.

The first act of the musical play is about the history and background of the main character, Alexander Hamilton who was a wedlock child whose father had abandoned him and his mother when he was very young. Hamilton’s mother also dies when he was  12 years of age. Hamilton later moved to America and began to fight for the American Independence. In the year 1776, Hamilton meets three other revolutionists and abolitionists like John Laurens, Marquis de Lafayette, and Hercules Mulligan.

After this, Hamilton gets to meet the Schyler sisters. The story here has a love triangle between two of the Schuyler sisters Angelica, Eliza, and Hamilton. Angelica falls in love with Hamilton, but when she introduces her sister Eliza to Hamilton, they both fall in love and get married very soon. Angelica does not tell her sister about her love for Hamilton and watches in pain as her sister and Hamilton gets married. The musical “satisfied” and “Helpless” is sung in the play to depict this story. The act two is a continuation of how Hamilton fights for the freedom of America.

The Musical Play has won many awards and honors, some of them are:

  • Critics Circe awards like Best new Off Broadway Musical, Direct of musical.
  • Drama Desk Awards for music, lyrics, Set design, lighting, actors, and Sound.
  • New York drama Critic Circle Award: For the best musical.
  • Theater worlds prize: For Outstanding Debut Performance.
