Preparing for Community Theater auditions


A community theater is a theater which is made up of the members of a particular community. People with the same background form a community for them and portray plays about their community, the history, and background of their community, awareness games, young people’s experience, etc.  The people also perform on the streets to bring awareness and to make people know about their community.


All auditions can be scary and intense. You need to put on one of your best shows to get noticed and get cast. There will be equally talented people who will be competing against you can you can get intimidated easily. Thus before you can go for an audition, you need to make sure that you are well trained and confident.

Do your research:

Before you go to the hearings, do a little home work by getting to know about the role you are going to play. Google out the story and understand the concept and the situation of the story. If the drama has already enacted, then try to watch that scene so that you will get an understanding of what to do at the different time of the play.

Try to act your lines before the mirror so that you can watch yourself while performing and correct yourself.  If you happen to have stage fright, then make your family members or your friends see you play first so that you will not be having so much trouble when you are performing on the real stage.

Singing Auditions:

If you are auditioning for a musical, one of the common things they check for is if you have the voice for the character which they are looking. So you might want to tone your voice so that it matches the character you are paying. The people with the fantastic view are usually considered to be the cast of the lead roles.  Also, try to be enthusiastic and cheerful so that the casters will like your more.

Acting Auditions:

In Acting Auditions you are usually given a script and asked to read it aloud. You will be judged based on how well you can enunciate the words and present your dialogue. Acting does not come in a day’s practice; you need to keep practicing all day and perform your best during the auditions. Understanding the role of the character is very important. You need to learn how to act like the nature of the play.

Also try to be loud and clear while speaking your dialogue, make sure that everyone understands what you are trying to convey.

Movement Auditions:

Movement Auditions conducted for musicals are very exciting. You will be expected to move around and dance according to the music. Always show a positive energy and put a smile on your face. You will be asked to do simple dance moves or movements, and you need to act accordingly.
